One night last week, there were a bunch of English people in the bar. We joked around about the world cup and a few other things. I mentioned during my show that when I lived in England, I loved using their pound coins becuz it made me feel like a pirate or something.
Anyway, I left for KEY WEST FEST at Blarney Island first thing on friday morning. When I arrived at my show tonight at Irish Kevin's in Key West, there was a cup filled with British Pound coins in the entertainer's room labeled "FOR JMH." To whomever left those for me- THANKS ALOT. That was very cool you heard, remembered, and acted on it.
I take a nap b4 every show to make sure I can be awesome. So, friday night my show started at 7pm. I just happened to wake up at 7:04pm. I must've forgotten to set the alarm. Anyway, I hopped outa bed, threw on clothes, and jumped on my motorcycle hoping that the act before me would go over on their time.
I noticed it was a little dark for 7pm during summer. So, I checked the day/date on my cellphone and realized it was Saturday morning. I had played my show the night before and woke up after 3 hours asleep, feeling fully rested. I laughed a little and went back to bed. Thank God.
It occured to me last night during my show that I have basically grown up onstage at Irish Kevin's. I started playing there when I was a kid- 23 years old. Sure, I started singing onstage at a very young age, and traveled Europe playing and singing before I hit Key West. But most of the really interesting things and major turning points in my life have happened during my stint in Key West.
Even tho alot of those things happened in other countries on other continents, I always was able to come back to the stage in Key West and talk about them. It just struck me as odd last night. I'm not sure why.
Maybe it was the 2 1/2 ounce shots of 151 those Royal Navy hooligans kept sending up. At least now I know why they were laughing when I was doing them!
